Photo of the Week - Pink Amaryllis Flower

Pink Amaryllis Flower

Another week, another story. This week is the Pink Amaryllis Flower. A few years ago, mom and my sister had been to Target and purchased these flowerpot kits. They had bought a red and a white flowerpot. February comes around and I’m like “I am going to plant these flowers and see how it turns out”. I planted them both. The red flower I planted started to grow pretty quickly into a red amaryllis. The pink one took its time to grow. I think because of the slow growth, a couple of the buds never fully developed. The Pink Amaryllis was so beautiful. I just loved this flower. (The red one was beautiful too and I wish I had a photo of that one as well.) At the time when I had planted these flowers, I was in a rough place. Planting these flowers, watering them every day, watching them grow, it gave me excitement and joy. It gave me perspective. Looking back at it on my personal Instagram, I called it the little flower that could. After seeing that, I’m remembering that when I went to plant it, it looked dried out almost dead. But I gave it a chance and planted it anyway. It opened up on the first day of Spring! I wrote, “[…] quite honestly this is the little flower that could. I took a chance on it, and it has far exceeded my expectations. I didn’t think it would grow. It did. Wasn’t sure the bud would open. It did. I guess there are lessons to be learned in everything”. In a previous post when it started to grow, I wrote, “Now the white flower is starting to open up a little bit. When I planted this one, the bulb looked like it was dying but I planted it anyway. Only one of two stems grew in the past 4-5 weeks. And that’s perfectly okay! Just goes to show you with anything (even ourselves), that with a little tender love and care, we can still become who we’re meant to be”. And that is absolutely true. It doesn’t matter what we have been through in our lives or what we are currently going through; by taking care of ourselves and taking chances on ourselves, we become who we are meant to be. Life can be rough at times. Take care of yourselves out there. And absolutely, 100%, NEVER GIVE UP on yourself. You have worth. You have meaning. YOU have a PURPOSE. Never doubt or forget that. See you next week!

Go after your dreams. Whatever they may be.
